A Reader’s Summary of The Tides of Life

This is the story of how the livelihood of a family in the Hebrides of Scotland is threatened and eventually disrupted by a combination of two factors. First by tragedy and second by political scheming associated with the grandiose plans of a trio of extraordinarily wealthy international businessmen. It relates how the principal family suffer from a devastating tragedy, a suffering which is eventually overcome by a combination of time and a highly unlikely sequence of events involving deep and unbreakable, everlasting love. While the novel narrates how the family and community is affected by these powerful outside forces, it ends with a nail-biting, breathtaking conclusion surrounding the reason for the family’s devastating tragedy in the first place.
